Make Waves Collective Invites You to Give Back by Getting Your Gifts Wrapped at their Holiday Fundraiser Event

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 13, 2023

Mount Pearl, NL – Make Waves Collective, a local social justice advocacy apparel business, is excited to share that they will be hosting Wrapped In Love: a Fundraiser for Tent City at The Annex on Sunday, December 17th from noon until 4pm.

The public is invited to bring their holiday gifts with them to be wrapped on a pay-what-you-can basis. All of the profits from the gift wrapping will be donated to the residents of Tent City, an encampment of local unhoused people living in tents because of a system that has failed them.

“Especially in our current economy, no one is immune from becoming homeless” says Make Waves Collective CEO Chris Elliott. “Safe and affordable housing is a human right, and yet somehow its being treated as a luxury that isn’t accessible to everyone in our society. We need to see that change, but in the meantime if we can help meet the basic needs of someone who is left with no choice but to sleep outside in a tent then that’s exactly what we intend to do with the money raised at this event.”

Alongside the pay-what-you-can gift wrapping service, Make Waves Collective will have their holiday fundraiser crewneck sweatshirts and t-shirts available for purchase at the event with a portion of the profits also being donated to Tent City.

Join the Make Waves Collective team in making a positive impact on December 17th, while getting a big task checked off your holiday to do list. Your support will play a crucial role in assisting our local unhoused population.
